Catherine M. (Gato-Feola) Ray, 83, beloved mother and grandmother of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Pleasant Valley Manor, Sedan, Kansas.
Catherine "Cathy" was the daughter of John and Philomena (Scombordi) Feola, she was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. After graduating high school, she married Joseph R. Gato they were blessed with three daughters, Teresa, Lisa and Denise. They resided in Scranton until 1975 when they moved to Coffeyville, Kansas. The couple later divorced.
Catherine owned a cleaning business, called Cathy's Cleaning Service for 20 years, then she devoted her work to caring for elderly people, cleaning errands, etc....
She met and was married to Ron Ray. The couple later divorced.
Catherine was a loving, kind, thoughtful person with a heart of gold. She could always make you smile and laugh. She enjoyed and loved her children, grandchildren and family, family get-togethers, casino, cooking, baking and gardening. She loved butterflies and birds. Also spending time with her family and friends. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughters, Teresa (Patrick) Testerman, Lisa Foster, Denise (Earl) Shufeldt; six grandchildren, Nicole (Donnie) Scott, Matthew (Cait) Daily, Melissa (Matt) Collins, Jason Foster, Dakota Shufeldt, Kaylee (David) Wagner; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary Scott, Autumn Scott, Nevayha Scott, Gracelynn Wagner, Rylynn Wagner, Chase Shufeldt and Karter Shufeldt; four brothers, Christopher Feola, James Feola, Michael Feola, Vincent Feola and many nieces and nephews. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Philomena, a sister, Rosemarie and a brother, Louis.
A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas. Chaplain Keith Springer of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice officiating.
Friends may sign the guest register on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
The family is honoring Catherine's wishes to be cremated under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses and aids at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas, Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice for their love and care.
