Catherine Riley

Catherine Riley, 83, of Kenilworth died on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Brandywine Middlebrook Crossing in Bridgewater.

Surviving are her daughter Linda Daly and her husband Jim Jones; her son Timothy Riley and his wife Christine; her sister Peggy Cupoli and her brotherin-law Vito; her grandchildren Andrew, Tess, Joshua, Breana, Samantha and Meaghan

Born in Newark on March 17, 1942, she attended St. Charles Borromean High School and graduated from St. Vincent Academy. She was life-long friends with her girlfriends from school -Barbara, Audrey, and Laurel, and their friendship was one of her greatest treasures. Catherine worked full-time in accounting at Kean University from 1977 to 2007 while raising a family.

She was a longtime Kenilworth resident and could always be found cheering on Timothy's baseball games.

Along with her sister, Peggy, Catherine traveled the world from Alaska to Hawaii, the Caribbean Islands, the Great Wall of China, Germany, Russia, Ireland, Greece and more. She cherished her family including her nephew, Gregory and her niece, Cathy and spent many summer days at the beach with them. In later years, she could always be found on the beach in Manasquan with her sister. She was a second mother to her grandchildren and took an active role in their lives. She rarely missed a game or a meet, and everyone knew Gramma Riley. She made friends everywhere she went and she always had a good time. She has left an indelible mark on all who met her and she will be deeply missed.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 4-8 PM at the Costello-Runyon Funeral Home 568 Middlesex Ave. (RT 27) Metuchen. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 9:45 Am from the funeral home, followed by a 10:15 Am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Metuchen. Cremation will be private.

In honor of her St. Patrick's Birthday, feel free to wear some green instead of black for the occasion.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
