James R. Higgins

James "Jim" R. Higgins, a beloved father, grandfather, son and friend, of Metuchen passed away on Sunday, March 15th, 2026. He was 58 years old.

Jim was a lifelong Edison resident, prior to moving to Metuchen. He graduated from Edison High School and worked for The Edison Board of Education in their Grounds Department.

He loved to go boating, working out, and sharing old stories with his friends but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Jim is predeceased by his father, James Higgins in 2003 and his brother, Michael Higgins in 2019.

He is survived by his son, Tyler Swartz, and his wife, Brianna; his step-children: Thomas Yuhas, Rosie Yuhas, and her husband Jared, Richard Yuhas, and his wife, Tara; his mother, Linda Higgins; his sister, Joanne Higgins; and his treasured grandchildren: Travis and Berkley.

A Viewing will be held on Monday, March 23rd, 2026 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. Metuchen, NJ 08840. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home the next day, Tuesday, March 24th, 2026 at 10:30am. Cremation will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks loved ones to donate to The Wounded Warrior Project in Jim's memory.
