Catherine Caveness Smith passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026 in Renton, Washington.
Catherine was born October 6, 1925 in Mineral Wells, Texas, and graduated from Mineral Wells High School and Weatherford College. She was an avid horticulturist and homemaker, active in her community and her church. Catherine was associated with Mutual Building and Loan Association for 35 years. She was the first woman to serve on the Vestry of All Saints Episcopal Church and the first woman to serve as Senior Warden of the Vestry. For many years she also served as church treasurer.
Catherine was concerned about the beautification and preservation of a clean environment for Weatherford, serving for many years as a chairman of Weatherford Cleanscape and later, Keep Weatherford Beautiful. She was a member of the Performing Arts Association of Weatherford, Garden Study Club, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Catherine served more than 20 years as secretary to the Board of Directors of Manna Storehouse, Inc., where she was also an Assistant Director. Her special pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren and playing bridge with her friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Kurtz P. Smith, Jr.; and her parents, Frank and Chloe Caveness.
Survivors: She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Fritz and husband, Chris; and her grandchildren, Michaela and Calvin.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, Manna Storehouse, Inc., or a charity of your choice.
