Celebrating the life of Martin J. Blink (Marty) & Catheryn C. Blink (Cathy)
It is with both heavy hearts and joyful memories that we announce the passing of Marty and Cathy Blink, soulmates who were inseparable in life and now, in death.
Marty, born March 1, 1954, and Cathy, born February 20, 1951, both departed this world after courageous battles, Marty on December 24, 2024, and Cathy just ten days later on January 3, 2025.
Marty and Cathy shared 45 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and service to others. Their devotion to each other was matched only by their dedication to their family, faith, and community. They were a shining example of how love endures and deepens with time, and their bond will forever be a guiding light for their children: Jennifer Ungar, Martin Blink II, and Joanna Blink Wytiaz, as well as their eight grandchildren: Megan, Mari Claire, Matthew, and Mariah Ungar, Micheal Blink, Abbigal Wytiaz, Hatteras Blink, and Audrey Blink. Marty and Cathy's hearts also embraced their two "adopted" grandchildren, Ryan and Colten Collins, who they cherished deeply.
Through their lifetime of service, Marty and Cathy made a lasting impact in many communities, particularly through the International Order of Alhambra, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, and the Special Olympics. Whether it was volunteering, helping those in need, or simply offering their time and support, they always sought ways to make the world a better place.
Marty, affectionately known as "Party Marty," had an infectious smile, a listening ear, and a heart as big as his personality. His love for life, adventure, and people was unparalleled, and those who met him were always left with a lasting memory. Cathy, the heart of the Blink family, balanced her career as a dedicated nurse with a nurturing spirit that made everyone feel welcome and cared for. Her kindness and strength created a warm, loving home that will never be forgotten.
In addition to their children and grandchildren, they are survived by their siblings: Constance Wilson of Savannah, GA; Christel Cashion of Gainesville, FL; John Cashion of Ocean View, DE; and Jim Blink of Prattville, AL.
To honor their remarkable lives and love, a joint funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, followed by a celebration of their lives at the Knights of Columbus Council #3548, where we invite all to share their stories, reminisce, and raise a glass in their memory.
Marty and Cathy's love story continues to inspire all who knew them. Though they may no longer walk this earth, their legacy of love, kindness, and service will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know them.
