Cathey Isom Obituary
Bartlett, TN
Cathey Miller Isom, Jr., 82, of Bartlett, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016. He was born in Memphis on October 28, 1933 to the late Cathey M. and Hazel A. Isom. Mr. Isom graduated from Treadwell High School and went on to Memphis State University and then served in the U.S. Army for four years. He worked for South Central Bell for 35 years and was a member of Whitten Heights Church of God and later, Bellevue Baptist Church. Mr. Isom, husband of An'l M. Isom for 63 years, also leaves his three children, Carol I. (Danny C.) Thomas, Leigh Isom and Chris M. (Lynn B.) Isom, all of Memphis; grandchildren, Amanda T. (Joe) Turner of Dallas, TX, Allen P. (Jenny) Thomas, Alex R. (Maria) Thomas, Amber L. Thomas, Courtney L. Isom, Jessie Y. Isom and Claire A. Isom, all of Memphis; and great grandchildren, Luke and Colin Turner of Dallas, TX and Logan and Gavin Thomas, both of Memphis. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 2 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Family and friends will gather beginning at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Memphis Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Our heart goes out to all of you. Cathey was a wonderful friend and neighbor to us for many years, so many memory. He will be missed by all of us. He is home with Jesus and we will see him again.

My father, Donald Parkinson, worked with Mr Isom at the phone company and I meet him when he came down to fish with my father and Charlie Payton at Enid. I only met him a couple of times but I remember him as being a really nice guy and a pretty good fisherman. I'm sorry for your loss. Allen Parkinson

I was so sorry to read in the newspaper about Cathey. My sister Pat Reese Robinson thought so much of you and Cathey. I know she would want to let you know how sad she was about his passing. May God be with you and your family during this difficult time.

Sorry for your loss. We were Cousins. My Mother Nora Cooley and Hazel Isom were first cousins. I had known Cathey all my life. T. J. had worked with him at South Central Bell.
