Catherine Frances Kenney, age 89, of Portland passed away on Friday December 26, 2025 in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare in Portland. Born in Oxford, Massachusetts on January 14, 1936 she was the daughter of Ralph and Teresa (Plante) Nielsen. She was married on July 16, 1955 to Harold M. Kenney he preceded her in death. Catherine had worked at Pauline's Kute Kiddies and Ludwig's Market both in Portland. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafting, sewing rugs and blankets and spending time with her family.
Surviving is two sons Kevin Kenney of Brookeville, Maryland and Brian Kenney (Roxann Mosier) of Tucson, Arizona, three daughters Erin Schwieterman (husband Ken) of Ridgeville, Kerri Johnson of Marana, Arizona and Kristen Larocque (husband Marc) of Upton, Massachusetts, Ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Ralph Nielsen.
Private family services will be held at a later date in Putnam. Connecticut. Memorials can be made to Jay County Heart Fund. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
