Cathy Bartreau Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rivertown Funeral Chapel (Ramsay FH Group) on Feb. 20, 2024.
Cathy "Cat" Ann Bartreau
Born on September 3, 1947 - Age 76, of Bay City, MI, lost her battle with Alzheimer's disease on Sunday, February 18, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Harry and Eleanor Ruth, along with one brother Robert Alan Jr. She is survived by her wonderful brother Mark (Angelique), and two special nieces, Kaitlyn and Ashley and her Uncle Floyd (Gloria) and Aunt Jackie. Also, dear to heart were lifelong friends, Alice, Carol and Cindy.
Cat has always 'done it her way,' just like the Frank Sinatra song that she loved to sing along with. Never married, but as she liked to say, had plenty of boyfriends who wanted to marry her. She was a gorgeous woman who was a magnificent artist. She spent many weekends at art shows and would rather trade pieces of art with her friends than sell her creations. We still have ceramic pieces that she loving made for each of us and they remind us how talented she was. In addition to art, her other passion was her constant companions, her beloved dogs. She always had at least two dogs and doted on them with swimming trips to Walloon Lake and plenty of walks and treats. Michaela and Lucy were her favorites! She grew up in Bay City, graduating from Bay City Central High School in 1965. In 1966, her rebel spirit took hold and she moved to La Jolla California for 3 years, working in the film industry. She specialized in editing and her red pencil marks can still be seen in every book she owns, pointing out grammar and spelling errors. She also lived in Bradenton Florida with her grandparents from 1970 to 1971. She loved playing cards and fishing with her grandma. Then she moved to Boyne Falls where she lived for 46 years, close to Walloon Lake. She worked at Boyne Mountain in the front office. She loved skiing and having fun with her co-workers. She would bring her cute little brother Mark on ski vacations, and she loved every minute of her time with him. In 2018, she moved back to Bay City to spend more time with her family. She transitioned to assisted living where she spent her last 5 years. Cat told everyone that she was not a cook, and she was right, but she did enjoy growing plants and flowers. When she lived at Carriage House, she really enjoyed eating the home cooked meals and variety of foods.
Ms. Bartreau will be cremated, and her ashes Interned at Floral Gardens Cemetery next to her dear parents and her little brother Bobby. She will be surrounded by her beloved grandparents, aunts and uncles. Ceremony will be February 29, 2024 at the Floral Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 11:00 am – 12:00pm.

First solid memory Cathy was taking karate, Later I remember she got lost on the way to Grandma Schulers house , it was a holiday Easter I think and I had just got my drivers license and was sent to retrieve her, she was so embarrassed and said all the times she had been there her Dad was driving and she never really paid attention.
