Cathy Ann Burns passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loved ones on October 1, 2025. Cathy was born on October 21, 1956 in Franklin, Indiana to the late Jack Burns and Alta Mae Newton.
Cathy's extraordinary legacy ignites a profound sense of joy and unity within her loving family, showcasing the transformative power of her boundless love and compassion.
Her family, including wife, Jamie Burns; children, Craig Burns and Brandy Burns Harris; honorary children, Paulina Grunden, Kirsten Guzman, Carlton Fishburn, Amanda Brown, and Chad Brown; grandchildren, Elijah Burns, Ishiah Burns, Austin Briggs, Alyssa Harris, Angelica Burns Harris; and 14 honorary grandchildren, continue to be inspired by her love and warmth.
Beyond her remarkable family bonds, Cathy pursued her passions with infectious enthusiasm, motivating others to do the same through her love of cards, poetry, word games, and music. Cathy's extraordinary gift was her ability to transform life's challenges into moments of laughter and connection, and her unwavering love for her children continues to be a beacon of hope. Every child who met Cathy was instantly enveloped in her love, warmth, and signature flannel shirts, which symbolized comfort and joy.
Cathy's remarkable spirit was welcomed to heaven with open arms by her parents Alta Mae Newton (Higgins) Herb Newton, Jack Burns, and brothers Wayne Burns, Jeffery Burns, Eddie Newton, who are now rejoicing in her extraordinary legacy and celebrating her life.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Indiana Funeral Care, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143, from 1pm - 3pm with a memorial service immediately to follow at 3pm.
