We celebrate the life of Cathy Jo (née Johnson) DiLuigi, aged 76, who, surrounded by her loving family, began her eternal life on October 6, 2025. While she leaves a void that can never be filled, she has gifted us a legacy of love, strength, and compassion that lives on in each one of us who had the privilege of knowing her.
On July 15, 1949 in Harrisburg, Illinois, Cathy was born to the late J.W. and Wanda (née Thomas) Johnson and was a cherished grand daughter to Thomas Aiden and Loretta (née Vaughn) Thomas and John Wesley and Lidah (née Golliher) Johnson.
She is survived by her husband Henry of 55 years and her daughter Denée (Brad), who she never hesitated to proudly say was the greatest gift and most important part of her life. Some of her most fond memories include the trips she and Denee would take, the quiet evenings the two of them would talk, and the many sunsets she shared with Henry around the world.
She is also survived by a host of family and long-time friends who miss her dearly.
Cathy found joy giving back to the community and was a staunch supporter of education. For years she served the Cook County School System in various capacities, most notably as a school board president and assistant to the central office administrator. She was also an accomplished seamstress, a licensed beautician, gifted gardener, and phenomenal cook. Cathy effortlessly sewed outfits, perfected the complex hairstyles of the 60s, tended her roses, and baked the perfect lasagna and chocolate chip cookies.
We remember her selflessness, warmth, devotion, generous spirit, and love of animals; her legacy shines through each of us.
In lieu of flowers, any fond remembrances of Cathy’s life and love may be made in the form of a donation to the Yavapai Humane Society.
The family thanks everyone for their support and love during this difficult time.
