Cathy Flyte Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dunlap Memorial Home on Aug. 21, 2025.
In the darkness of the night on August 17th, I left this world to join my sister and Jesus in heaven.

Cathy fought a six-year battle with cancer; she was tired and went home.

She was born on March 31,1958, twin to Peggy Jo, in Chicago Ill to Norma Myers. She grew up in Berwyn Ill.

She married Bill Flyte on May 6,1988 in Wheaton Ill and they called Woodridge and Hinsdale Ill. home, until moving to Fort Atkinson in 1998.

Cathy worked at Stop-N-Go, also as a bartender at Lucky D's, and as a server in local restaurants, her favorite being Edgewater.

Cathy enjoyed being part of the Jefferson Cty. Pool League, she enjoyed going to the casinos and recently visited the Hard Rock Casino in Rockford, she also enjoyed crocheting and made some beautiful pieces for family and friends. She loved George Strait and attended a concert with Bill, she said "it was one of the best days of her life", she enjoyed Doris Day and Lucille Ball movies, her flower gardens, and feeding her birds and squirrels.

Cathy will be missed by her sons, Josh, Fort Atkinson, Shawn (Sara), Milton and Adam (Erica), Madison, one grandson Bain, her sisters Jeri (George) Stadnicki Illinois and Bonnie Bales of Tennessee. Her caregivers, and friends Kayla (Erick)who made her cherry pie, Shanon and Julie. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, sister Peggy Jo, niece Heather, best friend Mary Jane and many other family and friends.

Per Cathys wishes there will be graveside services at Mount Auburn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4101 S. Oak Parks Ave., Stickney Illinois, on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11am, immediately following the service, Cathy would like everyone to go to the Waterworks Pizzeria & Tavern 7815 Ogden Avenue, Lyons Ill., and have a drink and enjoy themselves.

Cathy, you will always be the Sunflower in my garden of friends, fly high my friend I will miss you! Love Julie.
