Cecelia Frawley
July 7, 1954 – August 24, 2025
Longtime Langley resident, Mary Cecelia Frawley, passed away peacefully in her home on August 24, 2025, with her loving family at her side. She is survived by her dearly loved partner of thirty years, Ken Dvorak, and three sisters, Cynthia Dunn (Oregon), Susan Schapira (Oregon), and Stasia Turnbull (husband Phil, Australia), who cherish her. Celia always delighted in her three nieces, four nephews, six great-nieces, and four great-nephews, who adored her for her kindness, sense of fun, and heart of gold. She is also survived by many dear friends, who shared much joy with Celia in their hearts and times together.
Celia was the loving daughter of Phyllis and John Frawley in 1954, born in Westwood California. She grew up primarily in San Diego, CA. before moving to the University of California, Riverside. Celia loved all aspects of theatre, from set design to acting, and completed her BA and MA in Theatre. During this time, she also studied in England and enjoyed travel in Europe and with family in Australia.
Her passion for theatre led to work with the Alaska Repertory Theatre and time in New York. Her adventuring spirit then led to work on crab and fishing processing boats in the Orcas islands and Bering Strait. Celia lived then in Seattle, and Oregon for a time, where she met her loving partner of thirty years, Ken, and then moved to Whidbey Island, which has since been their blessed home. Their values of faith, family, and friends, and their loved pets and local wildlife have been blessings shared through their lives.
Celia built wonderful friendships through work in Seattle, and at the Star Bistro and Useless Bay Gold Club on Whidbey Island. She delighted in welcoming, serving, and knowing club members and staff colleagues, who became an extended family for over nineteen years. When Celia joined Trinity Lutheran Church, she found another blessed home and was joyfully involved over many years in her beloved Bell Choir, prayer group, fundraising/community support, and church services.
Celia and Ken were very moved by the prayers, love, support and many kindnesses around them during this past challenging year, and expressed their heartfelt, humble gratitude many times.
We celebrate Celia with deep gratitude and love, and thank God for her inspiring faith, her loving, generous heart and spirit, her joy, courage and strength, and beautiful smile. She will be lovingly remembered by us all.
A Thanksgiving of Celia's life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, 8 September 2025 at 11:00am
In lieu of flowers, you may honor Celia's memory by donations to WAIF (Whidbey Animals Improvement Foundation), WWF, Senior Services, or a charity of your choice.
