Cecelia O. Hamilton (Kohler) ObituaryCecelia O. Hamilton, age 98 years, of Street, MD died peacefully at the home of
her daughter at 11:22 pm on Saturday, March 15, 2025. She was the wife of
Evans C. (Izzy) Hamilton who died in February, 1963.
Born in Scarborotown, Harford County, MD on November 27, 1926, she was a
daughter of the late Charles Edward and Olevia M. (Forwood) Kohler.
Celie, as she was affectionately known, was raised at the former Boyd's Store on
Dublin Road in Street, working there from early childhood and remaining with the
store until retiring in 1982. She attended Highland High School and was a lifetime
member of the Emory United Methodist Church, serving on many committees
including treasurer of the memorial fund, treasurer of the cemetery, treasurer of
the United Methodist Women, and also the financial secretary of the church.
Celie's life was centered around her family and her church, but she also found joy
in giving her time helping in the community, including visiting shut-ins.
A generous lady, she was known for her gladiolas, apple bread and fudge, all of
which was shared with others.
She is survived by:
One daughter, Luanne Miller, and her husband, Ken
Two grandchildren, Kelly Miller Scott and Kenny Miller, and his wife, Michelle
Three great-grandchildren, Darin Miller, Caleb Miller, and Isaiah Miller Jordan
Her sisters-in-law, Ann Monninger and Frances Carter
Seven nieces, seven nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and
nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Charles Kohler, Winifred Livezey,
Alverta Rhodes Maxwell, and Lois Johnson
A viewing will be held at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St.,
Delta, PA on
Sunday, March 23 beginning at 1 pm and concluding with the service which will
begin at 3 pm on Sunday.
Pastor Stephen E. Smith of Lighthouse Church, Whiteford, MD will officiate.
Interment in Emory Cemetery will be private.
