Laura Catherine Baldwin (Workman) ObituaryLaura Catherine (Workman) Baldwin, of York, Pennsylvania, died at her home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the age of 93. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Baldwin, who preceded her in death on March 18, 1993.
Born on January 27, 1932, in Union, West Virginia, Laura was the daughter of the late Paris McKinley and Lillie Mae (Lane) Workman. Laura spent much of her professional life working as a bank clerk. Outside of her career, she found joy in many pastimes. She especially loved traveling the world with her family, watching her favorite TV shows, playing cards, and will be fondly remembered as being a wonderful cook. Her cooking was legendary among family and friends.
She was involved in her community and served as treasurer of the Springwood Overlook Resident Association. A woman of deep faith, Laura was both a lifelong and founding member of Pleasant Home Regular Baptist Church, where she remained an active and cherished member throughout her life.
Laura leaves behind her children: Carl Baldwin and his wife Kay, David Baldwin and wife, Jane, Garvie Baldwin and wife, Robyn, Linda Hott and her late husband, Ed, Gerald Baldwin and wife, Marlene, Debbie Day and husband, Steve, and Helen Reichert and significant other, Patrick. She was a beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is also survived by her sisters, Sue Redding and Violet Redding, and her brother, Fred Workman. Laura was preceded in death by her siblings George Workman, Reuben Workman, Verna Judy, and Shirley Baldwin.
A viewing for Laura will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Pleasant Home Regular Baptist Church, 15 Salisbury Road, Airville, PA 17302. A funeral service celebrating Laura's life will begin at 11:00 am, with Elder Rob Lins officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. There will be a luncheon following the graveside service in the fellowship hall. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, is assisting Harkins Funeral Home with arrangements.
