Cecil Bernard Carr, age 89, of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025. A devoted husband to Jolynn Carr, he was a loving father to Michael Carr, Kenneth Carr, David Carr, and stepdaughter Kristina Primoff. He was also a proud grandfather, cherished brother, uncle, and friend to many. His presence, kindness, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Born and raised in Old Town Alexandria, Cecil grew up surrounded by a large and loving family. From an early age, he developed a strong sense of duty and service, values that would guide him throughout his life. After proudly serving four years in the United States Navy, Cecil returned home and continued his commitment to his community as a firefighter with the Alexandria Fire Department-a role he embraced with courage and integrity.
Beyond his professional life, Cecil found joy in the simple pleasures. He was an avid woodworker who could often be found in his workshop crafting projects by hand. He shared a love for travel with his wife, Jolynn, creating memories that spanned miles and decades.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA 22315. A gathering will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service celebrating Cecil's life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cecil's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donate.
