Cecil Wesley Davis

Cecil Wesley Davis, 67, of Kinston, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Known as "Wesley" to all who knew him and "Poppy" to his many grandchildren and great-grandchild, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose legacy of kindness and love will endure forever.
Born on January 23, 1957, Wesley was a lifelong resident of Lenoir County and a man of deep commitment to his family, work, and community. A former truck driver, farmer, and business owner, Wesley was the embodiment of hard work, perseverance, and generosity. He cultivated a life filled with purpose, compassion, and devotion to those around him.
Wesley's passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for traveling, hunting, and fishing. He found joy and peace in nature and shared his adventurous spirit with his family and friends. Known for his outgoing and friendly personality, Wesley never met a stranger. Whether offering a helping hand to someone in need or simply sharing a warm smile and kind word, he touched countless lives with his selfless and caring nature.
At the heart of Wesley's life was his family. As "Poppy," he was a source of love and laughter for his grandchildren and great-grandchild, creating memories that will be treasured for many, many years. To everyone else, he was simply "Wesley"-a man whose strength, warmth, and integrity left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate to know him.
Wesley is survived by his devoted and cherished wife of 47 years, Karen Davis; his loving children, Sheryl Davis Matthews and her husband Charlie, Cecil Davis Jr. and his wife Brittany, Amanda Davis Condon and her husband Shawn; and his treasured grandchildren: Hallie, Victoria, Ava, Kayla, Luke, Emory, Eden, Ezra, Landon, Hannah, Emma, Ella, and his precious great-grandchild, Wyatt. He is also survived by a deeply loved honorary member of the family, Melinda Howard, and her cherished children, Taylor, Tyler, and Dakota. Additionally, Wesley leaves behind his lifelong and steadfast friend, Donnie Stafford, whose friendship was a source of great joy and comfort, and his beloved nephew, Wayne Davis, who held a special place in his heart.
Wesley was predeceased by his parents, Woodley and Ruby Davis; his sister, Jean Moody; and his brother, Bruce Davis. Despite their passing, Wesley carried their love with him throughout his life, and their memories lived on in his heart.
A funeral service to celebrate Wesley's life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Pink Hill Funeral Home, with visitation to follow the service. Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Westview Cemetery in Kinston.
Wesley's life was one of love, laughter, and service to others. His memory will forever be cherished by all, and his impact on the world will never be forgotten.
