Cecil James "Jim" Hammersley, aged 82, of Stigler, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on November 22, 2025, at his home. Born on August 31, 1943, in Seminole, Oklahoma, he was the beloved son of Newton Cecil and Mary Louise (Bowlin) Hammersley. Jim graduated from Seminole High School and furthered his education at Seminole Community College and Ada College. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, demonstrating his commitment to community and brotherhood.
On February 3, 1964, Jim married Helen Loretta Goss, with whom he shared forty-seven loving years until her passing. In 2013, he found love again and married Connie Lee Van Curen in a beautiful ceremony in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Jim dedicated over thirty-five years to a successful career in management at L'Oreal Cosmetics. Known affectionately as "Hammer," he had a unique ability to make friends wherever he went and an impressive gift for storytelling, always captivating audiences with his many adventures and anecdotes. A true enthusiast of shuffleboard, he earned the title of King of Shuffleboard among his peers.
He is survived by his wife, Connie, his son Kane Hammersley and wife Nova of Oklahoma City, his daughter Kandy (Hammersley) Jones and husband Doug of Illinois, and four cherished grandchildren: Shena Jones Luther and husband James of Omaha, Nebraska, Kastle Jones and wife Gina of Baltimore, Maryland, Tate Hammersley of Oklahoma City and Sophia Hammersley of Chicago, Illinois, . He also leaves behind one great grandchild, Ozzie Luther of Omaha, Nebraska. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Mary Hammersley, his first wife, Loretta, and his sister, Gloria Sue Hammersley Nikcevich.
Jim's warm spirit, kindness, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
