Cecil George Swafford

October 29, 1942 – October 1, 2025

Cecil Swafford, 82, of Oconee County, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Born on October 29, 1942, in Oconee County, he was the son of the late Gervis and Ethel Webb Swafford.

Cecil was the loving husband of Linda Faye Lee Swafford. He was a devoted family man who found his greatest joy in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sons Ray Swafford, Gervis Swafford, Josh Swafford, Cecil Webb (Tammy), and David Richard Webb (Sherry). He is also survived by his brothers Samuel "Buck" Swafford (Patricia) and Glenn Swafford (Gay); and his sisters Mildred Moore, Hazel Orr (Dennis), and Judy Webb (Albert).

In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Swafford and Martin Swafford, and one sister, Pauline Thompson.

Cecil's grandchildren were the light of his life: Cayden Webb, William Webb, Makayla Hyde (Valeria), whom he lovingly called his "adopted sunshine," and Sean Swafford. His great-grandchildren Nevaeh Hyde, Samuel Hyde, and Toby Hyde brought him endless joy. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

A hardworking man, Cecil made his living in masonry and was proud to have worked for Ralph Duvall for many years. Outside of work, Cecil enjoyed fishing, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was known for his jokester spirit. Above all, he deeply loved his family and cherished every moment spent with them.

A funeral service to honor Cecil's life will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel, with entombment to follow at Oconee Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 2:00pm to 3:00 p.m., at Sandifer Funeral Home.

Cecil will be remembered for his warm heart, playful humor, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will live on in the laughter and love of those he leaves behind.

Flowers are accepted and the family will be at the residence. Condolences may be expressed online by visiting www.sandiferfuneralhome.com.
