Stella Mooney Obituary
Stella Spencer Bertschin Mooney, age 91, of Carnesville, Georgia, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
Born in Elberton, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Coke Spencer and Mary Lathan Spencer. Stella worked for many years at Coats and Clark and was known for her strong work ethic, caring heart, and devotion to her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Bertschin Still (Bruce) and Jane Bertschin Andrews; her siblings, Muriel Robinson, and Annie Ruth Spencer; her grandchildren, William Burdette and Carla Still; one great-grandchild, Megan Cobb; beloved friend, Denise Duncan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her first husband, Hubert Bertschin; her second husband, Joseph Daniel Mooney; and her siblings, Jack Spencer, JR Spencer, Bobby Spencer, Otis Spencer, Hoke Spencer, and Earl Spencer.
A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 28th, 2025 at Stephens Memorial Gardens in Toccoa, Georgia.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Amedisys Hospice for their care, compassion, and support during Stella's final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Stella's memory may be made to Hopewell United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, 750 Methodist Drive, Westminster, SC 29693. Condolences may be expressed online by visiting www.sandiferfuneralhome.com.
