James Franklin Payne

James Franklin Payne, loving husband of the late Sara Ann Hall Payne, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 21, 1950, in Walhalla, South Carolina, to the late Ernest and Edna Blackwell Payne.

James is survived by his sons, Scott Franklin Payne (Kristin), Christopher James Payne, and Mark Allen Payne (Michelle); and his sisters, Kathy Nichols and Karen Goss. James also leaves behind seven wonderful grandchildren whom he cherished deeply.

In addition to his beloved wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Gary Payne, Vernon Glenn Payne, and Jessie Lee Payne.

James enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, gardening, watching television, and collecting model cars.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in the Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.

Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the life and memory of Mr. Payne.
