Amber Michelle Payne, a vibrant and loved individual, was born on September 7, 1972, in Topeka, Kansas. She passed away on March 9, 2026, in Holton, Kansas, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for those around her.

Amber was a proud graduate of Highland Park High School, class of 1991. Her journey in life led her to become a cherished waitress at Por'e Richards, Perkins and Trails Cafe in Holton, where her outgoing personality endeared her to customers and coworkers alike. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, and her helpful nature provided comfort to many. Known as the "mother bear" to her children’s friends, Amber enveloped others with warmth, always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand.

Amber was the beloved wife of Chuck Payne, who she meet while working at Por'e Richards, they were united in marriage on March 21, 1997. Together they formed a strong partnership that was filled with laughter and love. She was the proud mother of Robert Spatz and Sarah Payne, both of whom were central to her life, as she nurtured them and their friends with the profound affection that defined her character.

Her spirit came alive during life's simple pleasures. Amber found joy in watching movies, favoring classics such as Titanic, Little House on the Prairie, and Pride and Prejudice. She loved reading, those quiet moments allowing her imagination to flourish. Her heart was especially fond of her dog, Dragon, who provided her with companionship and joy. She also cherished her adventures to the mountains of Colorado, and the peaceful bike rides and walks around Shawnee Lake, where she often found solace in nature. The zoos held a special place in her heart too, as she delighted in watching elephants, enchanted by their grace and majesty.

Amber is survived by her devoted husband Chuck, and her beloved children, Robert and Sarah. She is also remembered fondly by her sister, Patricia Young, and her mother, Karen Brown, along with Ron, who has been a pillar of support to the family.

She now joins her deceased family members, including her maternal grandparents, Pat Billingsley and Robert Billingsley, who surely welcomed her with open arms.

Amber Michelle Payne’s presence in this world will be deeply missed, but her spirit of kindness and her loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy that encourages us all to live with generosity, to cherish our loved ones, and to be a beacon of light to others, just as she was.
