Dean Edward Griggs, 85, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026.
Born April 25, 1940, Dean lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering commitment to family, and a heart devoted to service. He met the love of his early life, Judy Griggs, during high school. Their bond grew into a loving marriage that lasted 40 cherished years until Judy's passing in 2001.
Later in life, Dean found companionship and joy again with Joyce Grimmett. For 23 years, they shared a devoted partnership filled with mutual support, laughter, and quiet adventures.
A man of action and strong Christian conviction, Dean dedicated much of his life to mission work. He traveled the world to serve others, participating in numerous mission trips where he helped build churches in Mexico, constructing swimming pools for orphanages in China, and carry out service projects across Europe and beyond. His hands-on approach and generous spirit touched countless lives through these efforts.
Dean was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy Griggs; his sister, Judy Bizoe; and other dear family members.
He is survived by his two beloved daughters, Tracey DeShazo (David) and Jennifer Karbowski (Kalen); his brothers, Jerry Griggs and Robert Griggs; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of immense pride and joy in his later years.
Dean’s legacy is one of love, service, and enduring faith. He will be remembered for his kind and generous heart, his willingness to help wherever needed, and the deep love he shared with his family and friends.
A celebration of Dean’s life will be held with Visitation on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 10 am, immediately followed by his Celebration of Life service at 11 am, both being held at Parker-Price & Davidson Funeral Home located at 245 NW Independence Ave, in Topeka, KS 66608.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a favorite mission or charity in Dean’s honor.
