Cecil Upton Obituary

Cecil Don Upton was born on March 21, 1937, in Vian, OK, to John and Dollie Upton. At the age of four, his uncle gave him the nickname "Pistol Pete" due to his exceptional skill with a pistol.

Throughout his life, he was known by many names, including Daddy, Uncle Pete, Grandpa, and Brother Pete.

Pete lived in the Sutter, CA, area for his entire adult life. He married Joyce on November 15, 1957, and together they had two daughters, Candy and Sandy.

Pete worked at Meeks as a truck driver and managed the door shop for 37 years. During his life, he served as an Eagle Scout leader, Bobby Sox manager, was a member of the Moose Lodge, and served as an elder in his church.

Pete is survived by his wife, Joyce; his two daughters, Candy and Sandy (David); five grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew Sodders.

His love of life and joyful spirit will be dearly missed by all who love him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 23, 2025, at 11 AM, at the United Pentecostal Church, located at 2649 E. Onstott Road, Yuba City, CA.
