Cecil Ray Warner passed from this life on August 29, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on March 30, 1943, Cecil lived a life full of love, dedication, and quiet strength.
A longtime member of Sunnyside Baptist Church, Cecil was a man of deep faith. He found joy and peace in the outdoors, especially during deer hunting season, and loved spending time fishing, his favorite spot being Lake Texoma. He especially enjoyed taking his family out on his boat, creating lasting memories on the water.
Cecil was active all his life. He played football at U.S. Grant High School, where he graduated in 1961. A proud fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oklahoma City Thunder, he rarely missed watching a game. In quieter moments, he enjoyed watching NCIS on television.
Cecil built a long and successful career in the trucking industry, retiring from Roadway Truck Lines after 20 years of dedicated service. He was even honored with an invitation to participate in a national truck driving championship in California, an achievement he was proud of.
Known for his patience, wisdom, and sharp sense of humor, Cecil made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His son Jeff once said, "He was the toughest man I ever knew, he made John Wayne look like a sissy." His son Greg added that "Dad always had the right answer, he was the wisest man I've ever known."
Cecil was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sue, caring for her through her 30-year battle with multiple sclerosis. Their love was strong and enduring. The two enjoyed traveling together, especially to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada. Cecil and his son Jeff had a cherished tradition of Friday night dinners at Louie's on 89th and Western.
He also coached both Greg and Jeff in football during their youth, earning the nickname "Coach" from many of the young men he mentored, many of whom still proudly call him that to this day.
Cecil's greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never missed their events and was always their biggest cheerleader, whether it was supporting a great-grandchild in The Special Olympics or cheering on a granddaughter playing volleyball.
Cecil was a hard-working, dependable man who always provided for his family. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His first love was the Lord, and his heart belonged to Sue, the love of his life.
His legacy lives on in the young men he coached, the family he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched with his integrity, strength, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cecil is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Warner and his wife Teresa and Greg Warner and his wife Marae; his brother, Larry Warner; thirteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue.
