Cecil "Gary" Yadon, age 82 of Brooks, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 29, 2024, with loving family by his side. He was born on November 13, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Gertrude Yadon. Gary was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, also a member of VFW Post 6182. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Stith) Yadon; daughter, Dara Smith; grandchildren, Bridget Smith and Dylan Ebertshauser and sisters, Shirley Henshaw and Virginia Cooper.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Pam Green (Steve) and Dana Yadon-Shawver (Tom); grandchildren, Todd Beckman (Faye), Tyler Green (Missy), Katie Green, Devin Ebertshauser (Jess), Brandon Shawver (Emily) and Taylor Davis (Curtis); great-grandchildren, Kyndall, Hayden, Evelyn, Hadley, Cora, Banks, Lakelyn and Marley; special in-laws, Douglas and Donna Hall and Phyllis and Charles Tracy.
He also leaves behind his beloved lifelong friend, Herman L. "Traveling Man" Riggs; caregiver and special friend, Clare George and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He loved sharing stories and memories of the times spent at Ronnie French's hunting cabin and farm.
Funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Family and friends may pay their respects on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 1 pm until 8 pm and on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 9 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
