He was preceded in death by his father, David C. Downey.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Downey ; brothers, David L. Downey, Sr. (Julie), Derrick Downey (Kimberly) and Doyle Downey (Deanna) ; nieces and nephews ; David L. Downey, Jr. (Tarrah), Justin Downey (Marie), Brandon Downey, Olivia Downey, Ian Downey, Noah Downey, Finnegan Downey and Conall Downey ; 3 great nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen, his celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday December 7, 2025 at Riverview Baptist Church,1850 Old Louisville, Cox's Creek Kentucky 40013. Schmid Funeral Home was entrusted with the final arrangements.
