Shirley Pike Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schoppenhorst, Underwood, and Brooks Funeral Home - Shepherdsville on Nov. 23, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

It is with sorrow as deep as the oceans we share that our mom, Shirley Ann Weiland Pike, joined our dad in Heaven on November 20, 2025. Mom was born at home on June 24, 1934, and was the youngest of six children. Mom & dad shared a love story that began when she was 16 years old, and after completing her Junior year of high school at Presentation Academy, they married on June 30th, 1951. While raising us 5 kids, mom obtained her GED, her realtor's license, her broker's license, and developed her successful realty company, Shirley Pike Real Estate, which remains operational today with our brother, Thom.

Dad would tell us kids that everything we had and were as a family was due to our mom. On the dozens of greeting cards dad gave to mom he always wrote, "You are my everything". Mom was also our everything. With dad's swing shifts on the police force, mom was our primary parent. She kept the house running, enforced the house rules & discipline, was our moral compass, squeezed pennies into wonderous Christmases & birthdays, ensured we excelled in school, was our go-to banker for loans, and kept God present in our lives. Our home was the place for friend sleepovers and campouts in the backyard. Throughout her life she was involved in her Catholic church in various roles as a volunteer. Mom was a Girl Scout leader, sang in the church choir, decorated the church for holidays, and always captained

a booth at church picnics. She helped create the first Louisville Police Department Women's Auxiliary. Mom established our Pike Camp at Nolin Lake where we've been playing together for 55 years. She was a mother lioness and fiercely protected and provided for us. Her generous love extended to her grandchildren, and she was a second mother to them. We give thanks to God for gifting mom to us to the age of 91. Mom's greatest joys were taking care of her family, going on casino bus trips and playing poker regularly with her sisters, time at the lake, and trips with dad & their friends.

Mom taught us life lessons by numerous sayings she had, 3 of which were:

1) Regarding food: "Take all you want but want all you take"

2) Regarding work: "If you're going to do something, do it right or don't do it at all"

3) Regarding common sense: "Don't do anything once that you don't want to do the rest of your life" (we never saw mom touch a lawn mower)

Mom was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Everett "Boone" Pike, in 2020,

her parents Lena & William Weiland, her 4 sisters & 1 brother, and numerous other loved family members. She is survived by us 5 children, Denise Price (Randy). Mike Pike (Debbie), Sherry Whitehead,

Billy Pike (Kathy), and Thom Pike (Charlotte), as well as 19 grandchildren & 42 great-grandchildren. Her first great-great-grandchild is due in 3 weeks.

Mom, rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus and your Boone. Because you raised us with strength, we'll be okay and we'll see you again in the light of Jesus.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in mom's honor to Presentation Academy – the Weiland Girls Fund.

I´m sorry to learn of Shirley´s death. She drove to St Louis when we went to see Pope John Paul II, I worked in the parish office at the time. Eternal rest grant unto her O´Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
