Cecile Manning

Velva "Cecile" Manning, age 91, of Germantown, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 20, 2026, where she lived with her daughter Sandra Manning. She was born June 1, 1934, in Thornhill Tennessee, daughter of the late Mollie (Jefferson) and Ruben Johnson. Cecile professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age of childhood. She loved and enjoyed music. She was a faithful member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, Ohio. She served Christ many years singing special songs praising His name and serving as a Sunday School teacher. Cecile enjoyed working in her flower gardens, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a devout wife, mother, mam-maw, and great mam-maw. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, James C. Manning in 2009; her brothers Austin Johnson and Wayne Johnson; and her sisters, Ramadale Johnson and Dorsia Dalton. Cecile is survived by 3 daughters: Sandra Manning, Donna (Scott) Young, and Sharon (Jeff) Kemp; 8 grandchildren: Jennifer Norvell, Amanda (Chris) Lawson, Kelly (Chad) Townsend, Zach Young, Aaron (Rebecca) Young, Joshua Warner, Justin Kemp and Cody Kemp; 15 great grandchildren, Hannah Greil, Austin Greil, Kennedy Norvell, Rachelle, Phoenix, Zeke, and Sheldon Lawson, Lily and Savannah Atkinson, Landon and Cameryn Townsend, Jacob Young, Peyton Warner, Dakota and Brecklynn Kemp; her sister, Loretta Green; her sister-in-law, Eva Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members and cherished friends. A Visitation will be held 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Saturday January 24, 2026, at the Dalton Funeral Home, 6900 Weaver Road, Germantown, Ohio, where the Funeral Service will follow 12 p.m., with Pastor Scott Young officiating.
