Cecilia Christine Kellum

KELLUM---Mrs.Cecilia Christine Kellum (né Hanson) went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2025 while at home with her family. Born on November 15, 1947 in Leesburg, FL, Cecilia moved to Jacksonville with her parents and three brothers when she was a child. Cecilia married her high school sweetheart, Ray Kellum, on December 16, 1966 at Wesconnett Baptist Church. She worked as a church secretary for many years at both Normandy Park and Cedar Hills Baptist churches and at the Florida Baptist Convention and Samaritan's Purse.

Cecilia Kellum was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was known for her kindness and her compassion to everyone. Cecilia was loving, caring, nurturing, and extremely devoted to her family. She was an exceptional wife, making a home for her husband and her children. She was an invested mother, always making sure to be present for Ginny, Rusty and Mary. She easily extended her love to her daughter in law, Jill, and son in laws, Scott and Brian. Cecilia somehow upped her game when the grandchildren came along!

Cecilia was an amazing Southern cook; learning to cook from her mother in law, Thelma Kernan. Mrs. Kellum's dinner table was open to all and her hospitality knew no bounds. She was a life long church member and an active member at Shindler Drive Baptist Church for the last 20+ years.

Cecilia is preceded in death by her parents (Cecil Hanson and Katherine Lawley) and two brothers (Eugene and Donald). Cecilia leaves behind her devoted husband of 58 years (Ray Kellum); three children, Ginny Banks (Scott), Rusty Kellum (Jill), and Mary Gardner (Brian). She precedes her brother, CH Hanson (Becky), and her sister in law, Foxie Kellum. Cecilia leaves eight beloved grandchildren: Kody Kellum, Annie Banks, Cynthia Diley(Zac), Bailey May, Ray Banks(Kekoa), Kale Kellum, Mattie May, and Casey Holliman.

Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday September 5, 2024 at Shindler Drive Baptist Church, 7100 Shindler Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32222 with Pastor Jonathan Reavis officiating. Family members will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the church on Friday morning. Following the service, Mrs. Kellum will be laid to rest in the Garden of Devotion at Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
