Cedric "Cedie" Chavarria, Our Sweet Valentine and beacon of positivity and a free spirit, passed away on March 25, 2024, in
San Antonio, Texas. Born on February 14, 2002, in Twentynine Palms Marine Corp Base, California, Cedie's life was a testament to the power of kindness, compassion, and adventure. His infectious smile and open heart touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of warmth and generosity.
Cedie was the beloved son of Charles Chavarria, Jr. and Clarissa Chavarria, and the cherished brother of Cyprian Chavarria. He was adored by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Blanca Chavarria, Sr., and maternal grandparents, Ramiro and Jeannette Campos. Cedie's extended family, including his aunt and uncle, Felicia and David Chavarria (Crystal), and his cousins Krisslyn and Krista, held him dear to their hearts. The Verastegui Family-Oscar, Raquel, Vincent, and Nathan-formed Cedie's second family, with whom he shared an extraordinary bond. His loyal companion, Havoc, was always by his side, sharing in his adventures. We also would like to recognize the Charro family, as they have had a tremendous and loving impact on Cedie's life.
Cedie's academic journey reflected his dedication and aspirations. He studied Criminal Justice at Palo Alto College, fueled by his dream of becoming a Customs Agent. His passion for learning and his drive for excellence were evident to all who knew him.
A man of many interests, Cedie approached life with a carefree spirit and an open mind. He could often be found engaging in heartfelt conversations, forging connections that were as deep as they were instant. Cedie's empathy and selflessness were his hallmarks, making him a friend to all. An adventurer at heart, he relished the opportunity to explore the natural world, frequently visiting beaches, rivers, and lakes with friends. His love for hiking was matched only by his appreciation for the beauty of the great outdoors.
Cedie's zest for life was palpable in his love for music. A talented violinist, he had a diverse taste in music, with a particular fondness for the works of Zack Bryan. His beautiful long hair was his trademark, and he became known for his joyous habit of taking the top off his jeep, cruising around, and sharing his favorite tunes with the world.
Volleyball was not just a hobby but a passion for Cedie. His remarkable skills on the court were a sight to behold, and his love for the game was infectious. Cedie's spirit of adventure, friendliness, and loving nature made him a remarkable individual whose impact will be felt for years to come.
Cedie's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love, friendship, and adventure. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. As we bid farewell to Cedric "Cedie" Chavarria, we celebrate the extraordinary life he led and the countless memories he gifted us. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the stars guide travelers on their journeys through the night. Cedie's legacy will endure in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the lives he touched with his boundless love and infectious joy.
Cedric wrote this poem his Senior Year in High School:
I did it all, I swear I Lived
Senior year we were told to enjoy enjoy I did, did the most with friends from stock shows with the yee yees to the football games with the populars
I did it all, I swear I lived
Having senioritis forgetting about work Not caring, just wanting to be with friends From almost failing in classes
To getting every grade passing
I did it all, I swear I lived
Not knowing what we have planned next Going 1,000mph we only stopped for friends From being sandy from sand volleyball
To dinner with everyone at 11:00pm
I did it all, I swear I lived
Senior year we were told to enjoy
Enjoy I did, I did the most with friends From first steps on campus a 2019 senior To first steps on stage a 2020 graduate.
I did it all, I swear I lived.
