Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rivertown Funeral Chapel (Ramsay FH Group) on Jan. 19, 2026.
Chad David Barratt, 46 of Gaylord, MI, formerly of Linwood, MI, passed away on

Thursday January 15, 2026. Chad was born on June 11, 1979 in Bay City, MI to Michael Barratt and Ann Tacey

(Knochel). Chad graduated from Pinconning High School, Class of 1998. Following high school, Chad became a skilled machinist and worked hard throughout his life in various positions. He was always known for a strong work

ethic and skilled dedication. In his younger years, Chad enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and softball. As he

grew older, he developed a love for golfing and downhill skiing. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing laughs, and enjoying a good beer.

Eventually, Chad moved up north to Boyne City, MI, where he embraced the winters, he loved. He enjoyed skiing at Boyne Mountain and riding side-by-sides with his daughters when they weren't playing sports, creating memories they will cherish

forever. Chad loved heading further "up north" for ski adventures at Mt. Bohemia in Copper Harbor and treasured trips back to Linwood/Bay City to spend time with his family. Above all else, Chad loved his family deeply. Chad was a devoted and loving father to his daughters, Chase Ellie and Sloan Maura, who were the pride and joy of his life. He loved his parents dearly and adored his sister, Bre, being one of the best big brothers anyone could ask for. He was a

steadfast and loving partner to his girlfriend of three years, Kelsey. Chad is survived by his daughters Chase and Sloan; girlfriend Kelsey Fegan; his mother, Ann (Dave) Tacey; his father Michael (Grace) Barratt; his grandmother,

Elinor Knochel; his sister Bre Tacey (Zach Vernon); nephews Bennett and Hunter Vernon; his brother Greg (Christina) Barratt; stepsiblings Cheryl Anderson, Mike Militello, and Chris Militello; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends, and the mother of his children, Jen Hater. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Victor Knochel and grandparents

Patricia (Dunham) and Harry Barratt.
