Chad Dexter Blanton, 47, of the Village of Lakewood, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024. He was born on June 3, 1977 in Point Pleasant, NJ, to Loretta (Mullins) Blanton and the late Dexter Blanton.

On April 2, 2010, Chad married Laura McShane in Austin, Texas. Together, they built a life raising their two children, Tyler Ethan, 13, and Finley Elle, 10. Chad’s tender heart and compassionate nature made him the sweetest, most caring husband and father, always putting his family first.

Chad graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, IL, in 1995, where he excelled as a soccer player. His passion for the game led him to Texas Christian University (TCU), where he continued to play soccer and build lifelong friendships.

Chad was a wordsmith with a sharp wit, always able to bring a smile to those around him. He enjoyed golfing, watching sports, and spending time with his family, especially his children. A dedicated fan of Pearl Jam, Chad found peace and joy in music, which was often the soundtrack to his life’s most precious moments.

He is survived by his loving wife, Laura; his children, Tyler and Finley; his mother, Loretta Blanton; and his brother, Sean Blanton (Robert Malatesta); father and mother-in-law, Robert & Ruthanne McShane; Sisters-in-laws, Amy McShane (Andrew Francis), and Sarah Krome (Vincent Krome); along with a multitude of cousins, aunts and uncles.

Chad was preceded in death by his father, Dexter Blanton; his grandmother, Alverta Mullins; his grandfather, Harold Mullins; and his grandmother, Helen Myers.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:30 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake, IL.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to the kids’ colleges funds. Visit www.ugift529.com and enter code H1C-B2T for Tyler and M3E-953 for Finley.
