Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chad M. Kauffman, age 50, and a lifelong resident of Whitley County, on August 5, 2023, at approximately 1:00 pm. Born on December 11, 1972, In Fort Wayne, Chad's vibrant spirit and love for the outdoors marked his journey through life.
A proud alumnus of Columbia City High School, Class of 1991, and father to three daughters, Melissa (Nathan) Shrock, Sara Kauffman, and Jessica (Jeremiah) Gardner. Chad was also a grandfather to two beautiful souls, Riley and Oakley Gardner. His legacy is evident in the family he leaves behind.
Chad is also survived by his loving mother, Janet Kauffman; father, Richard Kauffman; and his brother, Jonathan Kauffman, who will carry his memory forward, cherishing the moments and memories created with him.
Chad was a machinist for C&A Tool in Churubusco for the last 12 years and prior to that had been a machinist at Busche Albion for several years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bike riding, watching old movies, and listening to classic country music.
"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn." - John Muir
