Chad Eugene Manning, a loving father, devoted husband, cherished son, brother, and faithful friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the age of 53.
Born on December 13, 1971, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, to Melvin and Shirley (Degroat) Manning, Chad grew up with strong values rooted in faith, family, and community. He loved playing high school football and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1990. Chad went on to attend Oak Hills Christian College as well as the Lion & Lamb Bible College, deepening his lifelong commitment to spiritual growth and service.
Chad proudly served in the United States Air National Guard, embodying a deep dedication to his country. On August 22, 1998, he married the love of his life, Jennifer Jacobson. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and faith, raising four wonderful sons-Storm, Jack, Brody, and Beau-who were his greatest joy and pride.
Chad built a successful career in construction and property management, owning and operating Manning Construction. His integrity, work ethic, and craftsmanship left a lasting impact on the homes and hearts of many in his community.
Outside of work, Chad found peace and fulfillment in the outdoors-fishing, hunting, and golfing, and coaching baseball-as well as in the meaningful moments spent with his family. His deep love for music led him to become a talented musician and recording producer. He shared his gift of music through ministry, performing alongside his family in the Manning Family and playing bass for the nationally known evangelist Lowell Lundstrom and many Christian recording artists.
Chad served faithfully in ministry for many years, including as a worship pastor at Community Church International in Thief River Falls. Most recently, he was appointed President of Daystar in Detroit Lakes, carrying forward his father's legacy of service, compassion, and love for the community of Detroit Lakes.
Above all, Chad's greatest desire was to serve the Kingdom of God and raise his family in faith. His life was a testament to kindness, humility, and unwavering devotion.
Chad is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Jennifer Manning; his sons Storm, Jack, Brody, and Beau; his loving mother, Shirley Manning; and his siblings Peggy Cummings, Joyce Schweigart, Clint Manning, Jodie Erb, and Cory Manning. He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Manning, whose legacy he honored every day.
Chad's legacy is one of love, resilience, and a life lived with purpose. His presence will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his spirit will live on in all those he touched.
We find comfort in knowing that Chad is now singing and playing in Heaven, just as he did so joyfully on earth. May he rest in eternal peace.
