Chad Overholtzer Obituary

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville.
Chad passed away Friday, August 25, 2023 at UAB Hospital. He is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Overholtzer; sister, Kara Overholtzer; and father-in-law, A.D. Mitchell.
"Mr. O", as his students affectionately called him, was a native of Gadsden and a resident of Anniston for most of his adult life. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and History and then from UAB with a Master's Degree in Chemistry. He retired in 2019 with thirty years of service teaching chemistry and other sciences at Talladega and Oxford High Schools. He was a member of Harvest Church of God where he served as bookkeeper and taught Sunday School. Chad had a senior purple belt in Taekwondo.
His love of learning and natural ability to teach impacted many lives, especially his wife and children. Skills acquired from his dad were construction, plumbing, electrical, roofing, and painting. Chad loved creating stained glass panels, wood carving, furniture refinishing, sail boating, music, and painting.
Chad is survived by his loving wife of twenty-six years, Lesa Overholtzer; children, Connor Overholtzer, Ethan Overholtzer and Olivia Overholtzer; his parents, Fred and Barbara Overholtzer; brother, Jon Overholtzer and his wife, Nancy; mother-in-law, Linda Mitchell; sister-in-law, Angie Gross; nephew, Hunter Gross; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in his honor to Harvest Church of God, 520 Golden Springs Road, Anniston, AL 36207.
