Chad Eugene Remster was born on August 21, 1972, in Chariton, Iowa, to Larry and Betty (Lacey) Remster. While in high school, Chad worked on his uncle's farms and enjoyed raising pigs. He graduated from Melcher-Dallas High School in 1991; where many classmates would describe him as 'daring'. He participated in golden gloves boxing, played baseball, and football. At 17 years old, Chad joined the U.S. Army, serving proudly overseas in Germany, Panama, Cuba, and Somalia with the 300th MP company out of Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri.
Later he graduated with an associate's degree from William Penn University.
Chad met the love of his life, Autumn, in 1997 through mutual friends at a house party, and the two married on October 4, 2003. Together they built a life filled with laughter, family, and plenty of stories that will be retold for generations.
Never one to sit still, Chad quite literally "did everything." Some called it undiagnosed ADHD, but Chad called it living life to the fullest. He had many ambitions, often joked that he was "jack of all trades, master of none", but he left behind a work history as colorful as his personality. He was a bouncer, garbage man (multiple times); over the road trucker, corrections officer at the Mitchellville prison and Marion County Jail, constructed & sold grain handling equipment, built ethanol plants, served papers, became a repo man with his brother, Noble Ford, Sherwin Williams paint delivery, delivered tires, private security with the Federal Protection Service, had worked at Vermeer, Pella Corp, Hunting Guide, built hydraulic cylinders, wanted to own hotdog carts, most recently, a heavy equipment operator and belonged to the operator's union.
Through it all, Chad had a great sense of humor and never knew a stranger. He was a natural storyteller who could make anyone laugh and always made time for his family, especially his kids. One of his favorite stories to tell was how he once took a bullet for his brother Jason. He loved the great outdoors, shooting guns, fishing, hunting, and shenanigans with his cousin Steve. His biggest joy in life was his kids & becoming a grandpa.
On September 20, 2025, Chad sadly passed away at the Des Moines VA Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Chad will be deeply missed by his wife of 21 years, Autumn; children: Jessica (Kyle) Romanco, Larry "Calen" Remster; grandchildren: Jonesy and one more on the way; brothers: Jason (Melissa) Remster, Cory (Ashley) Remster; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Larry and Betty Remster and beloved Aunt Finny.
