Chad Michael Aman, 58, passed away on June 14, 2025, in Denver, Colorado. Born on September 7, 1966, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Chad’s life was a vibrant symphony of rhythm and energy that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
From the very beginning, music was the heartbeat of Chad’s world. Raised in a home that doubled as YMA Music Studio, where students came and went at all hours of the day for lessons, Chad was immersed in sound from his earliest days. This environment shaped him into a prodigious talent and set the stage for a lifelong career in music. As Drum Major at Mitchell High School, he began leading with both charisma and skill —qualities that would define his journey as a musician and mentor.
Chad taught hundreds of students over the years, sharing not just technique but his infectious passion for music. He directed numerous award-winning bands from a young age and became a fixture in the Denver music scene. His keyboard mastery and magnetic stage presence lit up venues across the city and beyond. He played with an eclectic array of bands including Cocktail Revolution, The Heavy Heavies, The Alpha Schoolmarm Orchestra (ASO), The New Majestics, Harmonious Junk, White Fudge, Slack, Better Sensory Perception, The Boogie Nots, Reptiles, Samurai, Behop and Dub—each group a testament to his versatility and creative drive.
Chad was a regular performer at iconic Denver venues such as El Chapultepec, Herb's Hideout, The Thin Man, and Dazzle. His talent graced major events like City Park Jazz, LoDo Music Fest, A Taste of Colorado, and legendary stages including The Fox Theater, The Oriental Theater, The Gothic Theater, Mishawaka Amphitheatre—and most memorably—Red Rocks Amphitheater.
One of his proudest moments came when he joined a select group of Denver musicians to perform at a sold-out Prince Tribute Show at Red Rocks. In addition to live performance, Chad contributed to studio recordings and film tracks. He composed countless songs—more than could ever be tallied—each infused with his signature flair and soul. His musical genius was matched only by his vibrant personality. Known for coining colorful phrases like "shamalama blama" and "hoonyak," Chad had a gift for language as playful and unique as his music. Nearly everyone who knew him had their own nickname bestowed by Chad—Bosco, Girly, Sweet Pea, Home Slide—the list goes on.
Chad’s zest for life extended far beyond the stage. He cherished camping and fishing trips at the property—a place of peace and connection for him. He reveled in parties with the “home boys,” adventures to Mexico, and meals at his favorite spots: Fargo’s Pizza Co., Gaetano’s Italian Restaurant, Apple Ridge Café for breakfast burritos, and Black Eyed Pea. Throughout his lifetime, he adored his dogs who brought him great companionship.
He is lovingly remembered by his mother Alice Aman; father Mike Aman (Margie); sister Kim Christian (Dan); brothers Derek Aman (Emily), Michael Aman, Garrett Aman (Lorraine); nieces Cerissa Moore (Evan), Camille Christian, and Piper Aman; nephews Quintin Christian and Hayden Aman; great-niece Joselle Moore; great-nephews Malachi Moore and Caleb Moore; and former wife Melissa Van Allen.
Chad was more than a musician—he was a force of nature. A musical hurricane whose energy filled every room he entered. His optimism was contagious; every show he played felt like the most fantastically amazing show ever. He brought people together through music and laughter with unmatched charisma.
Though he may no longer walk among us, Chad Michael Aman’s spirit lives on in every note played by those he inspired. His legacy is etched into the soul of Denver’s music scene—and into the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory continue to bring joy to those who loved him—and may that magical symphony of the universe play just a little louder now with Chad among its stars.
A celebration of Chad's life will be scheduled at a later date.
