Chandra Cortez Obituary
Chandra Jimi Cortez, 50, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on February 13, 2026.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:30 PM, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.
Chandra was born in Amarillo, Texas on September 26, 1975, to Janice Annette (Ledbetter) Padilla and Jimmy Roy Padilla.
She attended Caprock Highschool and graduated in 1993. She went on to marry Robert Alan Cortez and made a career doing what she loved as a Respiratory Therapist in Amarillo.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janice Annette Ledbetter-Padilla, grandmothers Adelina Padilla and Alma Ledbetter and grandfathers, Joe Padilla and JD Ledbetter.
She is survived by her former husband, Robert Alan Cortez, and six beloved children, Robert Heurter, Dawn Heurter, Alyssa (Cortez) Romero, Aaron Cortez, Adriana Cortez, and Ashlyn Cortez and eight beloved grandchildren; father Jimmy Padilla, and three sisters, Caren Coronado, Kim Gonzales, and Chrystal Huey.
Chandra was a cherished mother, sister, daughter, friend, and wife. Her love, laughter, and strong faith will forever live on in our hearts.
All are welcome to attend her celebration of life.
