Chandra Gabel Blake, a spirited soul whose kindness and creativity touched all who crossed her path, passed away on October 31, 2024, in Pensacola, FL. Born in Dallas, Texas, on February 9, 1966, Chandra was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to so many. She shared her warmth, boundless imagination, and love with those she cherished.
Chandra managed the DeFuniak Motel with heart, finding joy in creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who came through the doors. In her presence, strangers became friends, and friends felt like family. Her home was always open-a refuge where anyone could find a meal, a bed, and understanding without judgment. She gave freely and asked for nothing in return, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and generosity.
Chandra had an eye for the unique, collecting trinkets that spoke to her playful, quirky spirit. She adored Halloween, always going all-out with her legendary decorations and her collection of fun, crazy wigs. A true artist, she could make magic out of crepe paper and never ran out of ideas. Her resourcefulness meant she could solve any problem in a flash, always with a smile and a quick laugh.
She was deeply loved by her family, including her husband, Richard Blake; her cherished mother, Sandra Mankins; and her children, Kimberly Spears and husband Justin, and Kristy Alcorte and Anthony Null. She took great pride in her grandchildren, Millie, Michael, Ozzy Valdez, and Christian, Xavier, Angel, and Faith Alcorte, each of whom carries her love and spirit within them.
Chandra is survived by her siblings: Cheryl Gautreau, Danny Holden, Jerry Holden, Scott Parramore, Tim Mankins, Reece Holden, Pamela Vicars, Tina Mankins, Lance Gabel, Elen Mundheim, and Heather Holden. Each shared a piece of her life and carries forward memories of her kindness, loyalty, and laughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Glynn Null, birth father, James Fields, adopted father, Jerry Gabel, stepfather, Freddie Mankins and 12 Alcorte grandchildren.
Chandra believed in always helping others and never judged anyone, a testament to the love that defined her life. Her legacy of caring, creativity, and openheartedness lives on in the lives she touched and the family who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Chandra's life will be celebrated on November 16, at Chandler's Landing, 1 Commodore Plaza, Rockwall, TX at 3pm. In her honor, her family invites all who knew her to gather and share stories of her generosity, humor, and unwavering kindness.
