Chandra Lynn Plain Evans

HYDE PARK – Chandra Lynn Plain Evans, 51, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 13, 2022. Chandra was born in Poughkeepsie on August 31, 1971.
She was most recently employed as a server at the Palace Diner in Poughkeepsie and worked at various other dining establishments throughout her career. She enjoyed her customers and the fast pace of working in the restaurant field. Her dream was to own a restaurant business of her own, catering to healthy food choices.
Chandra enjoyed visiting her "Happy Places" which included Seaside Heights, NJ and various casinos, including a recent trip to Las Vegas with her sister to celebrate her son Spencer's 21st birthday. She thoroughly enjoyed playing scratch offs for the lottery. Watching birds feed brought her peace and she had a real love of dragon flies. During her recent family trip to Seaside Heights, a dragonfly landed in the pool, her sister rescued it and Chandra blew off its wings until it could fly again! She was so excited! More than anything, her family and friends will remember her as a loving, caring and completely unselfish mother. She adored her daughter Jenna and recently celebrated her 11th birthday with her at the Vampire Diaries in Georgia. Chandra and her sister Lisa shared an unwavering deep bond throughout their lives.
Chandra is survived by her children, Spencer R. Evans and Jenna Lynn McDermott; her mother, Barbara Edick Sherman; her father, Roland C. Plain, Jr. and his wife Ligia Plain; her "husband" John McDermott; her sister, Lisa C. Plain; her brothers, Roland Plain III, Nicholas Ryan Plain and Justin Harris; her nephew, Joshua G. Plain; her great-niece, Bailey Plain; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by her brother Chad Alexander Plain.
Calling hours will be held on Friday September 16th from 6-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. In memory of Chandra, please consider wearing a dragonfly or something purple, her favorite color. Family and friends are invited to gather at the McHoul Funeral Home at 9am on Saturday September 17th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Holy Trinity Church, 775 Main Street Poughkeepsie. Burial to follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Details for reception after funeral service to be announced.
