Charity Lynn Tidwell, born on February 23, 1975, in Austell, Georgia, peacefully passed away on October 16, 2024, at AdventHealth-Gordon.
A devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mother, Charity's life was a testament to her unwavering faith, commitment to her family, and service to her community. Charity graduated from McEachern High School in Powder Springs, GA, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Anderson Theological Seminary. Her passion for education and dedication to her faith were evident in every aspect of her life. She worked diligently as an Administrative Secretary at Canaanland Christian School and served as a Past Secretary for the Gordon County Republican Party. Additionally, Charity shared her talent as a pianist and vocalist, contributing to the worship at Prayer Baptist Church, where her musical gifts enriched many lives.
Beyond her career, Charity was perhaps most proud of her role as a mother. The joy she felt when she became a mother highlighted her commitment to her family, a milestone she cherished above all else. As a pastor's wife, she ministered alongside her husband, Joseph Scott Tidwell, embracing her calling with grace and compassion. She was known for her sweet soul and her loving nature, leaving a profound impact on all who knew her.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Scott; her daughters, Lindsey H Tidwell and LeAnn (Dylan) Blackstock; her sons, Anderson J. “AJ” Tidwell and Owen “J.S.” Tidwell; her granddaughter, Hannah Lynn Blackstock, who is set to arrive in January 2025; Charity was a cherished daughter to Randal Blaine Owenby and Joyce Evelyn Blankenship Owenby; a loving sister to Jessica Hudson and her husband Jesse, Naomi Best and her husband Ryan, Joy Ayala and her husband Dom, and Joshua Owenby and his wife Haley; her mother-in-law, Linda Kay Tidwell.They shared a bond that was strengthened by love and support. Through her family connections, she demonstrated the true meaning of kinship and devotion to each of whom will remember her with profound love and admiration.
Friends and family are invited to honor Charity's life. Visitation will be held on October 19, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM, both at Canaanland Baptist Church in Resaca, GA. with ministers Avery Johns, Scott Tidwell, and Randy Owenby officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Joshua Owenby, Ryan Best, Jesse Hudson, A.J. Tidwell, Owen Tidwell, and Dylan Blackstock. Honorary pallbearers include Joe Silvers, Ben Tidwell, Joey Matt, and Ethan Matt.
Charity Lynn Tidwell's legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness, faith, and unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a world forever changed by her presence.
