Patricia "Patti" Mashburn Yates, 67, of Hiram, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025. Funeral
service will be 1 PM Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hiram with
Rev. Rodney Carson and Rev. Tom Grantham officiating. Burial will immediately follow the
service in Milford Baptist Church Cemetery.
Patti was born and raised in Marietta. She was the daughter of the late Jim Pat "JP" and Martha
Sue Johnson. She is a proud graduate of McEachern High School in 1976. Patti dedicated almost
50 years of working in the medical field. Her career started when she worked for the late
pediatricians Dr. Fernandez and Dr. Relish, where she loved every family that walked through
the office door. Once she retired from the office, she was the co-owner of Advanced Medical
Group. After selling the practice, she returned to the office setting and joined the team with Dr.
Mygatt at Urology Associates which later became part of Wellstar Health System. Patti worked
for Wellstar for 18 years until she passed. Patti loved her office family and her career. She took
pride is helping patients and being able to make a difference in someone's life.
Patti's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone she met. She
was known for her giving spirit, her love of God, and her legendary chocolate oatmeal cookies.
Patti was a faithful and devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hiram for over 35
years. But most of all, Patti was known as a devoted wife, an amazing mother, and a very proud
Grandma.
Patti is survived by her husband, Alan Yates of Hiram; her daughter, Sharon Mashburn (Arnold)
and grandchildren Trenton Mashburn, Terron Roy, and Shi Roy of Marietta; bonus daughter
Amanda Hill (Calvin) and bonus grandchildren Richard Fulwood-Hill, Bella Fulwood-Hill and
Mariah Hill of Carterville; bonus daughter Tiffany Barber (Allen) and bonus grandchildren
Dawson Barber and Lexi Barber of Douglasville; bonus son Bryan Yates (Kayla) and bonus
grandchildren Gracie Yates and Reid Yates of Kentucky; bonus daughter Katie Yates of Auburn,
Alabama. Additionally, she is survived by her loving siblings, Gerald "Jerry" Johnson (Dianna)
of Carrollton, Georgia; Nancy Sigrist (Bob) of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; and Dan Johnson (Jeana)
of Dallas, Texas. Patti has an extended surviving family that includes many nieces, nephews,
aunts, cousins, and longtime friends.
Family will receive friends at Carmichael Funeral Home in Marietta on Friday, June 27, 2025,
from 5 pm until 8 pm and at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hiram on Saturday, June 28, 2025
from noon until the 1 pm service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations can be made in Patti's name to either of the
following nonprofits: the Milford Community Cemetery Fund (P.O. Box 1160, Carrollton,
Georgia, 30112) and Blue Thanksgiving Inc (https://www.bluethanksgiving.com/donate.html).
Her gentle strength, generous spirit, and deep love for her family and community will be dearly
missed and lovingly remembered.
