Charles Tillman Harper (C.T.), passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024. After complications from End Stage Renal Disease, Diastolic Congestive Heart Failure, and Type 2 Diabetes.
Charles was born in 1969 in Austell, Ga. He lived most of his life in Powder Springs, Ga. Charles attended Powder Springs Elementary School, Compton Elementary School, Tapp Middle School, and McEachern High School, where he graduated as part of the Class of 1987.
After graduation, he worked at the Tommy Nobis Center, and later attended Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute where he learned job skills and independent living.
After he graduated from Warm Springs, he worked for Wal Mart for 16 years (1995-2011).
He enjoyed his job at Wal Mart in Hiram, Ga. He received Employee of the Month awards several times over his career. Charles had to step down from his duties at Wal Mart in 2011 due to renal failure and having to be on dialysis.
Charles received a kidney transplant in 2022, which was unsuccessful. After his mother's passing in 2023, Charles suffered many health issues and remained under the care of medical professionals.
Charles attended Calvary Baptist Church in Austell, Ga, where he was a member. Charles was passionate fan of the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons, and NASCAR. He was always kind, never saying an ill word about anyone, and accepted every challenge with grace. He loved good food, loved to laugh, and loved his family and friends.
Charles was living at the Powder Springs Home of Nursing and Rehabilitation at the time of passing.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Joan Harper.
Charles is survived by his brothers, Leonard Harper of Powder Springs, and Matthew Harper (s. Elizabeth Harper), Ravyn Harper (niece), Asher Harper (niece), and Zane Harper (nephew) of Dallas, Ga.
A memorial service will be held on January 4th 2025 at 12:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Austell, GA. Visitation will be held in the Sanctuary before the service at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Charles's honor to The American Kidney Fund (https://www.kidneyfund.org/), or The Roosevelt Warm Springs Development Fund (http://rwsdevelopmentfund.org )
