Charlene Virginia Donly

On the eve of August 29, 2022, the angels escorted Charlene Virginia Donly to her heavenly home. Charlene was born, November 27, 1951, to Carlton and Edith Donly in Toledo, Ohio. Both parents preceded her in death.Charlene graduated from Libbey High School in 1969. She attended The University of Toledo and received her Associate Degree in Social Work.Charlene was employed for many years by Toledo Public Schools as an Assistant Teacher. She was also employed by Planned Parenthood, Genito Urinary Surgeons, and The Foster Grandparent Program, and other employment opportunities throughout her lifetime.Charlene volunteered for several organizations in the community such as: Commons at Garden Lake, delivering food to disabled veterans; United Way; Connecting Kids to Meals Summer Program where she assisted in packaging food for children to make sure they continued to be provided with healthy meals during the summer months. Charlene was an avid volunteer for many years at the YWCA-Touch My Hand Breast Cancer Support Group, setting up meals and sharing encouraging words. She spent countless hours organizing and making reminder calls. Charlene offered assistance wherever it was needed.Charlene attended Glass City church of Christ faithfully until death. She loved the Lord and was a diligent worker. She sang with the United A Capella Chorus. Also, she served on the following church committees: Healing Hearts Care Ministry; The Kitchen Committee assisting at funerals, weddings, and other events; Christians For Life Youth Ministry Fundraiser Committee and The Benevolence Ministry. She also volunteered in the annual Polly Ball event and was known as the popcorn lady. Popcorn was one of her favorite snacks.Charlene had a beautiful and loving smile that would brighten a room and touch your heart. Her hobbies included baking her famous pound cakes, collecting, and wearing her beautiful jewelry, assisting senior citizens, youth, and anyone else in need.Surviving Charlene is her daughter, Monica C. Donly-Fitzpatrick Dimples"; sisters, Audrey Hickman, and Rochelle Gould, bonus sister, Dorothy Hill; brothers, Quinton Donly and Kimmie D. Hall (Cynthia); nieces, Janet Tarver, Taishia Loveless, and Tamara Austin (Dameon); nephews, James Q. Hickman, Jercardo Tarver and Quinton Donly, Jr.; many great nieces and nephews; aunt, Maureen Curl; best friends, Frances Cox (Wiley), Emma Jean Baker, Marva (Moses) White and Winda Dr. Robert) Birt; Godchildren, Andrea Cox and Ramon Cox; honorary daughter, Teneashia Cunningham Coach T; honorary granddaughter, April Valentine (Deon), a host of other loving family and friends, and her church family at The Glass.
