Charlene Lourene Burt was born on December 26, 1947, in Riversdale, St. Catherine, Jamaica, to Gerald & Ivy May Burt. She was the twin
sister of Avis and the third of ten children.
She attended Berwick All Age School and excelled in Mathematics. She later enrolled in Business School in Spanish Town, Jamaica where
she studied clerical administration.
She embraced motherhood and on October 17, 1964, she gave birth to
Christopher Linton and to Othneil Ricardo Lewis Hewitt on April 27, 1966. She was a hard-working single mother and was determined to provide for her children.
She met the owner of a trucking company who frequently visited the area, and he introduced her to his brother, Clifton Hart, there was a mutual attraction. However, Charlene's Aunt Veta Saunders who resided in the United States offered to sponsor her so she could provide financial stability to her family. Charlene migrated to Queens, New York in 1971.
She worked for a doctor as a Childcare worker and he ensured that she resumed her studies, she was a dedicated student and before long she graduated and received formal education in clerical practices. She landed a job at Lerner in the Accounting Department. As a new employee she played a key role in driving the company's growth for which she was highly recognized.
To her surprise Clifton re-surfaced and she was ready to settle down. She said 'Yes' to the big question and they were married in 1975. He was everything she hoped for. November 15, 1976, they welcomed twins, Mark & Marvin. In 1980, Chris & Ricky migrated and joined their mother & her husband along with their twin brothers.
Clifton and Charlene had many conversations about relocating to South Florida and it happened summer 1988. Clifton expanded his trucking business while Charlene worked part time at The Pantry Restaurant. She had a goal to become a Certified Nursing Assistant and she achieved that goal by completing her studies at Sheridan Vocational School. She worked with a private client for six years and after he passed, she joined her husband in his business, Circle Lion Transportation, there she served as the Vice President and did the accounting.
Charlene was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and she loved God and her family. She was happy when she went to
church, there she gave of her time, her talent, and her treasures. Charlene was diagnosed in fall 2016 with Dementia, over the years it increasingly got worse. The family was devasted, and though they gave their all, it was just a fraction of what she gave to them. However, they were bonded by love, and she knew that they really cared.
April 18 th 2025, at 3: 30 PM Charlene transitioned, she was absent from the body but present with the Lord. She is survived by her husband; Clifton, sons; Chris (Trigger), Ricky (Othneil), Mark & wife Sarah, Marvin & wife Shereen, grandchildren; JR, Chris, Tejon, Ashley, Nicholas, sisters; Ms. Von, Avis, Angela, Jennifer, brothers; Patric, Prob,
Barrington, Paul, stepchildren; Alton, Grace, Chris, Dionne and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Charlene is gone, but she will NEVER be forgotten.

My and my family´s heart-felt condolences to the Hart & the Bert families during their bereavement at the transitioning of dear Aunty Charlene. You are blessed to have had a best daughter, sibling, wife, mother, grandma, sister, in-law, mother-in-law, and friend that anyone could wish for. God created her to be in your lives. She embodied everything good as attested to in the tributes that were shared at her Celebration of Life on Friday, May 16, 2025.
As a young woman I met Charlene while residing in New York. Immediately she made a lasting impression on me and her warmness, gentleness and kindness continued as we relocated to Florida. She demonstrated her professionalism and firmness in business as I had the honor of being their Realtor & Mortgage Broker in 3 transactions.
Uncle Clifton and your offsprings, may God grant you the peace and comfort that passes all understanding as you stand on faith for strength, and may Aunty Charlene´s spirit shine through always. {I am a step-daughter to Edna Hart-Savory.}
