Richmondville- Charlene Joyce Jeffers, 81, most recently of Main Street, Richmondville, New York died Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at her home.
Born on November 10, 1943, in Middleburgh, New York, she was the daughter of Orrin Adair and Ruth Lane Adair.
Charlene was a dedicated employee for Joseph B. Radez Elementary School in Richmondville. She loved the children at the school. She was a volunteer cleaner for the elderly and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Richmondville and was always willing to help anyone in need.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Richmondville. In addition to cleaning the church she also enjoyed helping at the church's food pantry, volunteering her time up until this past autumn. Charlene loved fishing and bird watching.
Her parents; stepfather, John "PJ" Sawitzki; sisters, Alice and Myrna; and niece, Barbara Ann Stevens predeceased her.
Charlene is survived by her sons, Ronald Jeffers, Jim Jeffers and Kerrie, Keith Adair and Kim; daughters, Christine, Sherry; sister, Geraldine; grandchildren, Bryant, Kyle (Nikki), Kyleigh, Evangeline; great-grandchildren, Maverick, Airydessa; nieces, Wanda and Bonnie.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 1:00pm at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY 12043 with Pastor Steve Gerhardt officiating. Burial will follow at South Valley Cemetery in Roseboom.
