Charles Edmund Barrett (1945–2025)
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Edmund Barrett (Charlie), on Sunday, October 5th, 2025 at the age of 80. Charlie was born on April 22, 1945, in Kearney, Nebraska to Edmund Barrett and Bertha Moers. He spent his childhood in both Paterson, NJ and Pompton Plains, NJ. He lived for many years in the towns of Butler, Bloomingdale, Paterson, West Milford and Stockholm, NJ, along with some locations in other states like Florida and Maine. Charlie is survived by daughter, Victoria (Tori) Meisch and son Timothy Barrett, as well as his sisters Hope Maglio and Faith Bolton and their families. Charlie also leaves behind his two grandchildren, Amelia and Dominic Meisch.
During this life, Charlie will be remembered for being a self-determined free spirit, often living a non-traditional life on his own terms. In following his own path, you could often find him enjoying the woods, classic cars and big rigs, car racing, antiques, and a cup of coffee along with a stray cat or two. Laid back, care-free, and yet terribly feisty, he worked more jobs and lived in more places than one could count, but was surprisingly resourceful and landed 'feet first' time and again. With his wit and sense of humor, he was never down on his luck for good. He was truly unique and will not be forgotten.
