A memorial service for Charles E. Barron, 72, of Alto will be held Friday, September 5, 2025 at 12 PM in the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Chapel in Alto, Texas with Jack White officiating. There will be a visitation time from 11:30 until 12. Charles passed away Wednesday, August 27, at his home near Alto. He was born October 6, 1952 in Rusk, Texas to Eugene Barron and Dorothy Battison Barron. Charles was born and raised in Alto. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1972, and had moved to Houston after his Army service where he worked 27 years for the City of Houston Police Department. Charles moved back to Alto in 2002 and served as Police Chief for the City of Alto for 9 years. Charles was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Dorothy Barron, father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles and Freddie Mae Whittle, brothers James, Travis and Ronnie Barron, and sisters Virginia Ann Barron and Patricia Ann Barron. Charles is survived by his wife Vicki Lynn Barron of Alto, daughters Amanda Wilcox and Michele Morris (Jeff) of Forest, brother David Barron of Alto, grandchildren Landon Grammer, Carson Grammer, Connor Thornton and Jackson Thornton and close friends and former sons-in-law Andy Grammer and Steven Thornton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sardis Baptist Church 7868 FM 1857 S. Rusk, Texas 75785.
