Charles Edward "Bud" Barto passed peacefully on February 21, 2025 at his residence in Diana, TX.
Born July 26, 1959 to Kenneth Eugene Barto and Twila Elaine (Davison) Barto in Conroe, TX. He lived a wonderful and full life for 65 years, 32 weeks and 3 days.
Charles grew up in Diana, TX. and was a Graduate of New Diana High School Class of 1977 where he was a member of the Eagle Band as a tuba player.
At an early age, Charles learned all the working processes of a cattle ranch and by the age of 12 he was in charge of raking and hauling hay during the summer. He was a self-taught heavy equipment operator, welder and was competent in any other skill that he needed to get done.
Charles worked many years for a local hardware store, building houses, hauling materials and doing dirt work. For a time he worked with the City of Longview as an equipment operator, then went on to spend many years at Trinity Industries of Longview as a welder assembling railroad tank cars. Still today there are many tank cars rolling throughout the United States with his coded initials.
After retirement, "Bud" concentrated on woodworking. He enjoyed taking rough oak lumber planing it down to size and building beautiful frames, cabinets and furniture. He took great pride in his full woodworking shop, set up in his backyard. He designed a unique canned goods storage system and platform will doors and drawers.
Charles also spent many hours at Lake O' the Pines fishing but usually always tossing back his catch of the day.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Twila Barto of Diana, TX. He is survived by his wife, Marie, and her son Chance. Two sisters Kathy Henson of Gilmer and nephews Ben and Daniel and Sister Kris Ray and husband George of Prior Lake, MN. and niece Susan.
The family would like to thank Marshall Hospice for their outstanding care especially Kim and Courtney.
Family will hold a private memorial at a later date and time.
