Funeral service for Michael Wayne Caldwell, age 58, of Mount Vernon, Texas will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Bro. Danny Ballard, Juan Fuentes and Johnny Daniels officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home. Jason Huffman, Kevin Lee Fulce, Johnny Daniels and Greg Christie will be serving as pallbearers. Interment will be at Nevill’s Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Caldwell passed away at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Michael Wayne Caldwell was born in Springfield, Tennessee on January 27, 1968, to Wanda Faye Clouse and Donald Ray Caldwell. He was a member of Choctaw Baptist Church. Michael played basketball at Chapel Hill School where he won numerous trophies and awards. He loved watching basketball and the Cowboys play football. He also played the Mandolin. Michael loved spending time with friends and having cookouts. He was a very giving and selfless person. He loved all his nephews and cousins very much.
Michael is survived by his mother, Wanda Kirkpatrick and his dad, Benny Kirkpatrick of Sulphur Springs, TX., his brothers; Sidney Ray Caldwell of Mount Vernon, TX., Randy Thomas Caldwell of Diana, TX., William Eugene Caldwell, and wife, Shauna Lee of Mount Pleasant, TX., his sister-in-law, Mary Caldwell of Mount Vernon, TX., his niece, Heather Brooke Caldwell, his nephews; Donald Fulce, Jason Fulce, Kevin Lee Fulce, and Dalton Caldwell. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray Caldwell, his sister, Juanita Caldwell, his daughter, Cheyanne Caldwell, and his nephew, Ryan Caldwell.
